Oh, Deer...

So, yesterday when Spencer came home, he told me that there was a deer in the backyard. Considering that we live in the middle of bustling Salt Lake City, I was surprised. Back in Tennessee, whitetail deer were a common, if not daily, sight. Here, however, it's somewhat unusual, if not downright impossible. But Spencer was right - I looked out our back door, and there WAS a deer. He told the truth without hyperbole and embroidery. Anyway, the deer was literally crouched, making himself as small as possible, behind a tiny crabapple tree in our side yard. He lowered his head and seemed to do his best to fit behind a five-inch diameter tree trunk. It was pretty funny, actually. Every time we came and went yesterday, the deer was still there. We took some pictures, and Spencer edited them. His last artistic interpretation?
- sigh - He claims that he was simply trying to illustrate the deer's efforts to remain incognito.
